Dehradun: In a gesture to acknowledge their support during the statehood movement in 1990s, Uttarakhand government will provide free bus services to the residents of four villages in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district to undertake pilgrimage to char dhams in Garhwal Himalayas.
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, who visited Rampur Tiraha in Muzaffarnagar to pay tribute to the victims of lathicharge during the movement on this day in 1994, said the hill state will always remain grateful to the people of these villages who offered help to those fighting for statehood to Uttarakhand.
In a gesture to acknowledge the help offered by the residents of Sisona, Medpur, Bagowali and Rampur villages, the villagers will be taken in buses by Uttarakhand government to tour the char dhams for free, Bahuguna announced.
