Jammu, Sep 15: An army jawan D P Yadav working in Signals regiment of the Northern Command went up a cellphone tower in Udhampur this afternoon demanding leave.
Yadav went up the tower at around 3 pm and demanded that the GOC-in-C Northern Command should come personally to assure him that he would be granted leave.
Yadav alleged that he was not being given leave since a long time. As soon as the regiment officials got information about Yadav's act, jawans were deployed to surround the tower.
Several officials tried to persuade him but Yadav refused. finally, the commanding offer of Signal Regiment personally went up the tower to persuade him, and Yadav came down at around 7 pm.
Army officials said, Yadav was mentally stressed out because of which he took this action.
