Muzaffarnagar, May 7: A former village head was shot dead by five men, including a village head, over an election enmity in Masawai village of Shamli district, police said today.
Former deputy village head Gopal Singh was shot dead in Maswai village yesterday. A case has been registered against village head Kunwarpal and four others in this regard, said Additional SP Atul Saxena.
Kunwarpal had defeated Gopal Singh in the recently held panchayat elections. Animosity over the election results may have been the cause of the murder, he said.
