Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassin Jagtar Singh, who had scarpered from prison in 2004, has been arrested from Thailand.
The Police department in Thailand was put on alert by Punjab Police. On receiving a tip off, Thai police launched a search and managed to arrest Singh alias Tara.
Tara is self styled chief of Khalistan Tiger Force. He along with three others had escaped from Burail Jail in Chandigarh in a sensational tunnel escape in 2004.
While two of the escaped convicts had been arrested, two others were on the run including Tara.
Reacting to the arrest, former Punjab Director General of Police KPS Gill said, “Punjab Police has done a good job. They have been after him for a long time.”
