New Delhi: Delhi Metro services were disrupted for around two hours this afternoon after some “foreign material” got entangled in over-head electrification (OHE) wire near Rajori Garden station due to thunderstorm.
Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time as the metro trains were delayed for 10-15 minutes at every station on the Dwarka Sec 21 to Noida City Centre metro line route.
According to a DMRC spokesperson, some foreign material got entangled in the OHE wire near Rajori Garden station due to thunderstorm around 3:45 PM.
Train movement was regulated in two short loops from Kirti Nagar to Noida/Vaishali and Subhash Nagar to Dwarka. Trains were running on single line between Kirti Nagar and Subhash Nagar stations, the spokesperson said.
“The eight coach trains were jam packed as passengers were struggling to reach their destination on time so everyone was stuffing up in the next available train,” a regular commuter on the route said.
Another daily commuter said the trains were delayed by several minutes which led to queueing up on the platforms and also caused a lot of commotion.
The DMRC spokesperson said normalcy was restored at around 5.15 PM after the infringement from OHE wire was removed.
