Muzaffarnagar: Five policemen, including the SHO of Budhana Police Station, have been booked for the death of a 50-year-old man in police custody, following a gherao of the police station by hundreds of people yesterday.
Five policemen, identified as SHO Dhanender Mishra, Sub-Inspector Rajesh Sharma, policemen Hariram, Gyanender, and Vipin Kumar, have been booked on the charges of murder in connection with the custodial death of Nawab Qureshi at Budhana town in the district yesterday.
Police had arrested Qureshi, who was wanted in a case, but he died due to heart failure in police custody, a senior police official had said.
Following Nawab's death, irate public protested and gheraoed the police station, demanding strict action against the police.
