Srinagar, May 10: Indian army on Wednesday night killed five militants who were trying to infiltrate into Kashmir valley from Pak Occupied Kashmir.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. J.S. Brar said, arms and cash were seized from the dead militants.
The militants were killed in an encounter with Kala Bahar Brigade in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district near the Line of Control.
Troops deployed on the LoC in Maidan Nala area in Uri sector observed movement of five to six militants trying to enter the area.
On being asked to surrender, they opened fire on the troops, who retaliated, resulting in the killing of five terrorists.
The bodies of four militants, along with four AK rifles and other ammunition, have been recovered.
This is the first infiltration bid by militants to enter the Valley this year.
