Dharamsala, Apr 6: Alleging that the CBI has become a puppet in the hands of the government and the CVC has lost its sanctity, BJP vice president Shanta Kumar today demanded the formation of a “firm, independent” authority to deal with corruption in the country.
“Corruption in India is like cancer and the situation is explosive as the nation has reached the edge of this volcano,” Kumar said, adding, even the army and judiciary have not being spared of this “epidemic”.
He said, “CBI is a puppet of the government and CVC has lost its sanctity. A firm, independent authority against corruption is the need of the hour.”
Kumar said that people like Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazarke have already begun a fight against the “cancer” and BJP would support them.
Kumar claimed that 300 crore Indian money was lying in the banks of other countries as ‘black money'. “Though these countries are ready to send back the money, the Indian Government is reluctant even in ratifying the UN convention against corruption, which was already signed by 130 countries, and few of them have also started receiving the money back from these banks,” he said.
Accusing the Centre of sheltering these culprits, he said,”Government is not ready to make public the names of such people.” PTI
