Jammu: Pakistani Rangers and BSF troops briefly exchanged fire along the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

“On suspicion of (movement of) suspected persons, we fired few rounds and Pakistan posts also fired few rounds after hearing sound in Regaal Border Out Post (BoP) area along the IB in Samba sector last night”, a senior BSF officer said today.

“However, there was no specific movement or infiltration attempt from across”, he said.

“The firing continued intermittently for a brief period at 11 PM last night”, he said, adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the exchanges.  On January 20, Pakistani Rangers violated the ceasefire by resorting to firing by small arms on Border Out Posts (BoPs) along the International Border in Jammu district, prompting the BSF to retaliate.

On January 13 and 12, there was small arms firing by Pakistani Rangers in Samba sector.Pakistan also resorted to firing of mortar shells and small arms along the IB in Hiranagar belt of Kathua district on January 11.  On January 6, there was ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers along the IB in Kathua district.
