The container vessel is presently anchored 8 km southwest of prongs light and is understood to be holding nearly 45 tons of dangerous cargo in 24 containers, raising fears of an oil spill.
The fire has been contained, but not completely extinguished as thick plumes of smoke continue to emanate from the vessel, the Coast Guard said.
