Mumbai, Sep 10: Fire was still raging this morning on board MV Amsterdam Bridge, a container vessel registered in Antigua Barbuda.
An Indian Coast Guard press release said, the fire was first reported at 5:15 pm on Sunday. The container vessel had anchored at inner anchorage after discharging its cargo at Nhava Sheva.
The Colombo-bound vessel was carrying 'dangerous cargo', the Coast Guard said.
Indian coast guard ship ICGS Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, which was on routine patrol, was immediately diverted towards the vessel. A specialized pollution response vessel Samudra Prahari also went to the scene to provide firefighting assistance.
