Imphal, July 7: Nearly half a dozen shops in Thangal bazar area in Manipur's capital city Imphal were reduced to ashes on Saturday evening when a sudden fire broke out.
Six fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze and rescue those trapped. There has been no human casualty.
The devastating fire broke out from a one of the shops due to a suspected electric short circuit.
The fire soon spread to the neighboring shops. Soon LPG cylinders kept in neighboring houses and shops multiplied the ferocity of the inferno.
