The first day of the 15th Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week was marred with the opening show getting indefinitely delayed after police officials stopped the event claiming that the organisers did not have necessary permits.
"FDCI authorities don't have the permission to hold the event, that is why we are here. They have not taken a permit from the fire control department of the city," police officials said.
The first show by fashion designer Nida Mahmood was to kick off the gala event with accessory designer Little Shilpa scheduled at 12 pm, but it was stopped by the authorities who claimed that adequate permission to conduct the event was not sought by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
"I hope it does not get cancelled and is only delayed. I have put a lot of effort into the grand show and I am very positive that it will take place," designer Nida Mahmood told PTI.
The last edition of WIFW was held at Pragati Maidan and the venue has been changed this time to NSIC (National Small Industries Corporation) Grounds in Okhla Industrial Area here, where the fashion event is being held from March 24-28. PTI
