Facts you wanted to know about India's most wanted: Dawood Ibrahim

News Delhi: Dawood Ibrahim,  the head of  India's largest organized crime syndicate nicknamed  D-Company in Mumbai,  is currently on the wanted list of Interpol for organised crime and counterfeiting.  As per Forbes' World's Top 10

 


Dawood's elder brother Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar was killed by Manya Surve in 1981. Dawood Ibrahim's daughter, Mahrukh Ibrahim, is married to the son of former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad.
 Dawood is said to have begun his career in Mumbai working for the Karim Lala gang exploiting the rapid expansion in Mumbai's  textiles industry to his advantage.

He soon moved his residence to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where he has business interests alongside India. Indian defence intelligence agencies believe that Dawood and his associates have huge stakes in ship-breaking industry in India and are using these operations for smuggling in arms, explosives and contraband into the country.
 He became India's most wanted man after the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, which he allegedly organized and financed.  Dawood's brother Anees Ibrahim is also a co-accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings.
