At least three unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Check Cholan area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. While one was neutralised in the morning, another two were killed later.

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at the Check Cholan area of Shopian on Wednesday morning.
"Encounter has started at Check Cholan area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police informed today.
The gunfight started after a joint team of the police and the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
