Eid-ul Zuha (Bakrid) or the festival of sacrifice will be celebrated on November 28.

This was announced by Shahi Imam of Delhi Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Wednesday.

"The moon of Zil-Hijjah was visible today on the 29th of Zee-Quadah i.e., November 18. Therefore, it is announced that the first of Zil-Hijjah falls on the November 19. And so, Eid-ul Zuha will be on November 28," he said in a release.

Muslims celebrate Eid-ul Zuha to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of obedience to God.  The festival is celebrated a day after Muslims perform Haj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and descend from Mount Arafat.  Idd-ul Zuha comes approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramzan.

Saudi Arabia will celebrate the day on November 27. PTI
