Ahmedabad: The order by Ahmedabad metropolitan court magistrate B J Ganatra rejecting the protest petition filed by Zakia Jafri, widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri killed brutally during the 2002 Gujarat riots, makes several important points:

--The judge concurs with SIT that the credibility of Gujarat officer Sanjiv Bhatt is questionable.

--There are no relevant evidences that Narendra Modi, the chief minister, made the controversial remarks at the Feb 27 meeting

--No evidence to suggest that the dead bodies of VHP workers in the Godhra carnage were paraded by the state administration.

--The judge said, it was necessary to bring the bodies of Godhra carnage to Ahmedabad.

--There was no larger conspiracy, seeing the communal history of Gujarat, such outburst does not require conspiracy, says the judge

--Former police officer R B Sreekumar levelled charges only after he was superseded and he is not a material witness of facts

--Army was called in time on Feb 28 afternoon. Since army units were not available in Ahmedabad, they had to be airlifted.

--It shows no conspiracy on part of the CM and his cabinet ministers as they had shown alacrity in requisitioning army.
