Gangtok, Sept 18: Two persons were killed and 33 others received minor injuries in Sikkim as an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter Scale with its epicentre on Sikkim-Nepal border shook northeast and the northern parts of the country this evening.
The earthquake claimed one life at Singtham in East Sikkim district, while another died just outside Singtham, state Chief Secretary Karma Gyatso told PTI here. Several buildings developed major cracks in the state, he added.
Disaster Management personnel were deployed in affected areas, Gyatso said. PTI
