New Delhi, Oct 10: Fourteen people, including four women, travelling in a DTC bus were injured here Wednesday morning after the bus driver rammed the vehicle into a tree to save the life of the passengers when he felt the brakes of the vehicle had failed, police said.
The incident was reported around 9.30 a.m. in front of Batra Hospital red light in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar.
"The 14 passengers travelling in the old DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) bus, plying on route number 463, were rushed to different city hospitals from where they were discharged after first aid. No one died in the incident," said a police officer.
"The bus driver, whose name is yet to be confirmed, told investigators that as soon as he realised that the brakes of the bus were not functioning, he rammed the bus into a tree to save the life of his passengers," said the officer.
