The continuing strike by government doctors in Jodhpur hospitals in Rajasthan claimed the lives of  16  more patients taking the toll to 30.
 
The dead include several infants. Fourteen deaths were reported on Sunday after the striking doctors stopped reporting for work.
 
The resident doctors of Jodhpur's government hospitals are on indefinite strike to protest police lathicharge on medical students at MDM College. Nearly 60 medial students were injured in the police lathicharge.


 
Resident doctors of six medical colleges and affiliated hospitals went on an indefinite strike from Sunday causing untold miseries to the patients who come for treatment.
 
The striking doctors are demanding removal of deputy SP and additional SP. They are also demanding compensation for students injured in the lathicharge.
 
Rajasthan Health Minister I. Ahmed has appealed to the striking doctors to resume work. He has asked senior doctors to put in extra hours to help the needy patients.
 
S S Agrawal, sectretary of Rajasthan branch of Indian Medical Association said the state government has unnecessarily made it a prestige issue. "We regret the deaths of patients but the government is reponsible for this", he added.
