Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party (DMK)chief M Karunanidhi has suspended his son & senior party leader M K Alagiri from the party for going against the party stand and giving out statements contrary to party in the public domain.
Earlier this month, Alagiri was rebuked for his comments on alliance with DMDK.
Alagiri is Karunanidhi's elder son. He has been involved in an aggressive and lengthy tug-of-war for control of the party with his brother, MK Stalin.
Karunanidhi had also recently suspending five supporters of Alagiri's Madurai unit for putting up posters supporting him.
Thereafter, in a statement had said that anyone flouting party discipline will face an expulsion from primary membership adding that this had been the “rule in DMK yesterday, today and tomorrow”.
