Chandigarh, Aug 31: The discharge of water into Beas and Satluj rivers has come down substantially with the water level in Pong and Bhakra dams settling at below danger level.
According to an official spokesman, the water level in Pong dam stood at 1384.07 feet against it maximum capacity of 1390 feet. Last year on this day, it was 1383.04 feet.
The water level at Bhakra Dam today touched 1674.40 feet water mark whereas its capacity was 1680 feet. According to an official spokesman water level on this day during the previous year was recorded at 1676.69 feet.
On Tuesday, 25,831 cusecs water was discharged from the Pong dam against the inflow of 22,261 cusecs. There was discharge of 14,480 cusecs of water into Beas River at Naushera Mirthal and 54,100 cusecs in Dhilwan.
Satluj river also saw the discharge of 35,168 cusecs from Harike and discharge of 47,767 cusecs from Hussainiwala. PTI
