Bhubaneswar: With the depression over central Bay of Bengal moving north-northwestwards during the past six hours and intensifying into a deep depression, the weather office here cautioned the fishermen against venturing into the sea and those out at sea off the Odisha coast to return.

It also suggested hoisting of Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) at Paradip and Gopalpur ports.  In a bulletin, the IMD said that the deep depression lay centred at about 700 km south-southeast of Paradip over central Bay of Bengal near latitude 14.00 N and longitude 87.00 E at 0830 hours today.

“It would move northwestwards and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours. It would then move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast.

It would weaken gradually into a depression while reaching near the coast on November 8 night,” the bulletin said.  Though there is no rainfall forecast, the IMD predicted dry weather over Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Under its impact, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph would prevail along and off Odisha Coasts, IMD director Bhubaneswar Sarat Sahu said.  Sahu said the state may experience mild rain on November 8 and 9.
