Bhubaneswar, May 11: A deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal moved north-westward today and intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Mahasen', lying 1520 Km south-southeast of Paradip in Odisha.
The system would intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours and move initially northwestwards during next 36 hours and recurve northeastwards towards the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast, the met office said.
Under its impact, rain or thundershower was likely in one or two places over Odisha in the next 24 hours, it said.
Advice was given for replacing Distant Cautionary Signal Number-One by Distant Warning Signal Number-Two at Paradeep and Gopalpur ports in the state.
