In Punjab, a 40-feet high black-robed effigy of drugs was also burnt along with the effigies of Ravana, Meghnand and Kumbhkaran, to discourage use of drugs among youth. Bollywood celebrities took to twitter to wish their fans happiness, health and prosperity on the auspicious occasion. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Vijay dashmi ki anek anek shubhkamanayein aur badhai (Wish you a Happy Vijay Dashmi)..Happy Dushehra !!”
Actor Anupam Kher also wished for love and peace for all. “Happy Dussehra to All. Love, Peace, Happiness & Harmony,” he said in a tweet.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, Actress Nimrat Kaur, Preity Zinta, Diya Mirza, Music composer Shekhar Ravijiani, Riteish Deshmukh, Sophie Choudry and others also appealed everyone to retain the spirit of the festival and choose good over evil.
