New Delhi, Aug 22: Asif Mohammad Khan, the lone RJD MLA in Delhi Assembly, has quit the party, protesting RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's criticism of Anna Hazare's movement.
Announcing his decision at the Ramlila Maidan today, Khan said he has quit the party after Lalu criticised Hazare's fast. The MLA from Okhla in South Delhi said he was pained by the criticism of Hazare by Lalu.
Criticising Hazare's agitation, the RJD chief had last week said, “Parliament is supreme and civil society cannot give us dictation.”
Earlier today, Kejriwal appealed to all MPs to “listen to your conscience” and “leave your party rather than betray the country”.
He said RJD leader Asif Mohammad Khan had left his party after Lalu Yadav and others did not agree with his views on Jan Lokpal bill and had joined the campaign in favour of the civil society's draft.
“He is with us now.... We are getting a lot of phone calls from MPs,” Kejriwal said.
“Make your party understand that the whole country is waiting for Anna's Lokpal,” Kejriwal said. PTI
