New Delhi: A Delhi Police station house officer (SHO) was suspended for misbehaving with a sexual assault victim Friday, an officer said.
Bhagwan Singh, the SHO of west Delhi's Uttam Nagar police station, was sent to the district lines on the allegation of the woman who had approached police station to registered her sexual assault case Wednesday.
"The woman, in her 20s, reached at Uttam Nagar police station along with her parents to lodge a complaint of sexual assault. At this, they were sent to SHO's cabin. Instead of lodging her complaint, the SHO misbehaved with the girl and forced her to leave the police station without registering her case," said a police source.
Later, the victim's family somehow managed to contact senior police officers who immediately took action against the SHO.
Senior police officers were tight lipped over the issue but they confirmed that the SHO has been sent to police lines and a departmental enquiry has been initiated into the matter.
