New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Seni Bassi today tore into the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, saying that allegations being levelled against him and the Delhi Police were baseless and that that he would expose the Delhi government for making such accusations.
"I am not worried about false advertisements and allegations against me. I am not scared of any one who calls me a deceiver. In my entire life, I have followed the path of law and honesty," a visibly aggressive Bassi told mediapersons today.
When quizzed if he was contemplating any action against the complainants, Bassi said that he was gathering details on the same and, if need be, would not shy away from taking ‘adequate action'. "Bhim Sen Bassi works with honesty. I will bring truth out in front of the people," he said.
The comments follow a string of spats between the Delhi government and Commissioner Bassi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has complained against the Delhi Police to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) charging it with attempting to 'hound' ruling AAP MLAs by reopening old cases and creating new ones against them.
In a letter to the MHA written on November 7 with 10 specific complaints, Kejriwal further accused the city police of not cooperating with his government on several issues. The charges were categorically denied in a point-by-point rebuttal issued by the Delhi Police in response to Kejriwal's letter.
As per sources, the AAP government has also levelled allegations of corruption in a property deal against Bassi. Sources in the Delhi government further reveal that they are also considering filing charges against the Police Commissioner over alleged impropriety involving a cooperative society flat in West Delhi's Rohini.
In a curt response countering all allegations, the Delhi Police Commissioner said that it was not possible for a police commissioner to hide underhanded deals. "The corrupt are calling me corrupt. I will take the dishonest to their graves," he said.
In an earlier spat between Bassi and the Delhi CM, the top cop had said that he would quit if Kejriwal managed to prove that he was involved in corruption.
