New Delhi: Newly appointed Anti-Corruption Branch chief Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Meena has been sent back to Delhi Police by Delhi government saying he cannot hold a non-existent position.

The order was issued by Director Vigilance of Delhi Government.

The Directorate of Vigilance functions under the overall supervision and control of Chief Secretary, who is also Chief Vigilance Officer for the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Delhi L-G Najeeb Jung appoints new chief of ACB, 7 inspectors

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung yesterday appointed Meena as the head of ACB, superseding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's hand-picked chief S S Yadav and triggering strong reaction from the AAP government.

The LG had also transferred seven inspectors of Delhi Police to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), days after AAP government inducted five police officers from Bihar in the elite probe agency.

Meena, however, clarified that he is still holding the charge of ACB as he had  received orders from the competent authority. "I am still holding charge. I have orders from the competent authority,"Meena said.
