New Delhi: The Delhi government will install bio-digester toilets on a pilot basis which will solve the problem of sewage system and help revive the water bodies.
Vice-chairman of Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) Ashish Khetan said: "We have decided to install bio-digester toilets. We have identified 75 houses in Aya Nagar in South Delhi for the plan".
"The black and the grey water coming out from the toilet and kitchen will be treated once it reaches the common point of the system installed."
"We will then discharge properly treated water of Aya Nagar in a pond located there," he added.
Khetan said once it is successful, the model will be implemented in other part of the capital as well.
He said the cost of the project would be very low and the system would be maintained by the Delhi Urban Slum Improvement Board.
Bio-digester technology is environmental-friendly, maintenance-free and efficient without depending on conventional energy sources.
