New Delhi: Millions of people in the national capital faced acute water shortage on Monday as the Delhi Jal Board curtailed production at its Chandrawal and Wazirabad water treatment plants due to excessive ammonia level.
Areas mainly in Central, Old, North, part of South Delhi and NDMC will face water shortage for a couple of days due to curtailment of production at Wazirabad and Chandrawal Water plants here, a DJB official said.
These areas will receive reduced supply at low pressure for a couple of days. Normal production shall be restored at both the plants as soon as pollution level recedes, the official said.
Meanwhile, private water tanker mafias were busy supplying water to affected households at exorbitant rates.
