A person died after a 3-storey building collapsed in South Delhi's CR Park (Chittaranjan Park) on Sunday. According to the senior fire official, two people were trapped under the debris. The other one has been rescued by the team and sent to AIIMS Trauma Center.
As per the report, the building was being demolished for reconstruction when the incident took place. The upper two floors were already demolished and due to the excess weight of the debris of two floors, the roof of the ground floor collapsed. Construction workers of the adjacent plot were also buried under the debris.
The Fire Department said five fire tenders were rushed to the spot after it received information about the incident at 2.13 pm.
The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital.
The Delhi police has detained contractor Nidhish Gupta and a case has been registered. The investigation of the incident is underway.
