Video | Saffronisation of JNU? Hindu Sena puts up saffron flags outside campus, cops remove it
The Hindu Sena put up posters and saffron flags near the main gate of the Jawaharlal Nehru University and surrounding areas close to a week after a clash broke out in a hostel over allegedly serving non-vegetarian food during Ram Navami.
"Bhagwa JNU" posters and saffron flags were put up near the main gate of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and surrounding areas by Hindu Sena leader Surjit Yadav here on Friday morning.
However, soon after the matter was reported, cops jumped to action. All the saffron flags and hoardings were later removed by Delhi Police.
The development comes four days after two groups of students -- ABVP and JNUSU - clashed at the Jawaharlal Nehru University's Kaveri Hostel on Sunday allegedly over serving of non-vegetarian food on Ram Navami in the mess, with police saying six students were injured in the violence. However, ABVP had denied the charge and claimed that "Leftists" obstructed a puja programme organised at the hostel on Ram Navami festival.
Both sides accused each other of pelting stones and injuring their members. The Ministry of Education has also sought a report from JNU on students' clash on Ram Navami.
