New Delhi: Leasehold-to-freehold conversion will be allowed for properties where construction of more than one dwelling unit on a single floor has been made after getting due approval from the local body and according to the sanctioned building plan, DDA today said.
In a clarification issued, the housing authority said construction of more than one flat or shop or dwelling unit on one floor on a plot will not be treated as sub-division of plot, wherein the construction of such dwelling units have been made after getting due approval from the local body concerned and as per sanctioned plan.
It may be mentioned that though floor-wise conversion was being allowed earlier, during the implementation of the policy it was observed that there was some confusion as to whether conversion can be allowed in cases where more than one dwelling unit has been constructed on a floor and whether such a construction was to be treated as sub-division of plot or not, the DDA said in a statement.
“With this clarification it is clear that construction of more than one dwelling unit on a plot where the plan has been duly sanctioned will not be treated as a sub-division of plot and conversion will be allowed,” it said.
