Four armed motorcycle-borne robbers allegedly snatched Rs 1.55 crore from a jeweller in north-west Delhi on Wednesday morning, police said.
The incident took place in Ashok Vihar Phase-II at around 10 am, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N S Bundela told PTI.
Puran Chand Goel, a resident of Ashok Vihar, had just stepped out of his residence when four men on two motorcycles waylaid him and snatched the cash bag allegedly containing Rs 1.55 crore on gunpoint. The robbers then fled from the spot.
According to a senior police official, the robbers were waiting for Goel to come out.
Goel has two shops in Central Market in Ashok Vihar and Sadar Bazar.
Investigators said they suspect the involvement of people known to Goel as the robbers knew the routine of the businessman.
