Charu, Rajasthan: BJP candidate Rajendra Rathore, the prime accused in the alleged fake encounter of bootlegger Dara Singh. has won by a huge margin of 24,002 votes defeating Congress candidate Hazi Maqbool in Churu.
CBI had arrested Rathore last year in connection with Dara Singh fake encounter case in which about a dozen policemen are already in jail.
Rathore has represented BJP in Churu three times in the past.He was a sitting legislator from Taranagar Assembly constituency.
He is considered one of the important loyalists of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
With Rathore's win, BJP's tally in the Rajasthan assembly has gone up to 163 out of a total of 200 seats.
