Jaipur, Mar 11: Suspended senior IPS officer A K Jain, an accused in Dara Singh fake encounter case, has been remanded in two days' judicial custody by a local court.
Jain was produced yesterday before the court where the magistrate remanded him in judicial custody till March 13.
A 1978-batch IPS officer, he was absconding and surrendered before a court here on February 27 and was under judicial custody since then.
The court later remanded him in CBI custody for 14 days.
59-year-old Jain was also hospitalised for a few days on complaint of chest pain and uneasiness during this period.
He was absconding since the CBI filed a charge sheet against him in June last year accusing him of masterminding the fake encounter of Singh when Jain was heading the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police.
The alleged encounter took place in Rajendra Prasad Nagar area on the outskirts of the city on October 23, 2006.
His widow had termed the encounter as fake following which the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI inquiry.
