Greater Noida: A National Commission for Schedule Castes team on Friday visited the Dankaur area here and met the Dalits, who were arrested on charges of public obscenity.
Five people, including three women, were arrested on Thursday after they allegedly stripped in a market in Dankaur in Gautam Budh Nagar, to protest the police's alleged refusal to register a complaint of robbery.
Two days ago Sunil Gautam and Sohan Lal had gone to lodge a robbery complaint at Dankaur Police station.
On Thursday, Gautam and his family had again gone to the police station to inquire about a complaint against the suspect who had allegedly robbed him of his motorcycle and wallet.
Police claimed they had stripped in public and did obscene protest which was objected by residents and shopkeepers.
Police had arrested the dalits after lodging an FIR against them.
Video clippings of the incident had gone viral on Facebook and Whatsapp. SSP office had written to Facebook to take the clippings off the site.
Dalits alleged that Dankaur SHO misbehaved with them.
SSP Kiran S has ordered inquiry into the incident.
