Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 : Cyclonic storm 'Giri', which moved towards the Northeast after intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm, is likely to cross north Myanmar and adjoining Bangladesh coasts between Teknaf and Kyaukpyu by tonight.
The system, which lay centered over the East-Central and adjoining North-East Bay of Bengal, about 670 km East, South-East of Balasore, is likely to cross the coasts between Teknaf in Bangladesh and Yaukpyu in Myanmar, MET office sources said.
Since the system is likely to move towards north Myanmar and adjoining Bangladesh, it is not expected to affect the east coast of India, a bulletin issued by the MET office said.
A distance warning signal has been hoisted at Paradip and Gopalpur ports and fishermen asked to be cautious while venturing into the sea. PTI
