Cyclone Gulab Updates: Cyclone likely to weaken into deep depression in next 6 hours
The landfall process of cyclone Gulab started on Sunday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. As per the latest meteorological observations, the cloud bands have touched the coastal regions and thus the landfall process has commenced over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south coastal Odisha.
Cyclone Gulab Updates: Cyclone storm Gulab has started making landfall on Sunday evening, triggering heavy rains along with strong winds over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south coastal Odisha. The landfall process commenced around 6 pm between Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Gopalpur in Odisha. The cyclone is likely to impact Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts in north coastal Andhra. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and assured all possible support from the Centre. As many as 42 teams of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and 24 squads of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with about 102 teams of fire brigade personnel, have been dispatched to the seven districts -- Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P K Jena said.

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Sunday directed all the District Collectors to keep vigil in view of cyclone 'Gulab'. Kumar gave this instruction to the Collectors through a tele-conference from New Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Telangana over the coming two days. Therefore, Kumar directed the officials to open special control room in all the districts and to monitor the situation in the event of floods, an official release said here.

Telangana districts alerted over impact of 'Gulab'
The Telangana government on Sunday put all districts on alert in view of the heavy rains forecast for the state under the impact of cyclonic storm 'Gulab'.
The IMD has issued red alert for north Telangana and orange alert for south Telangana districts. Somesh Kumar asked the Collectors to work in coordination with police and other line departments. The district officials were directed to be on alert with regard to low-lying areas, keep a vigil and take necessary measures on the tanks likely to breach.
They were told to take services of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), if necessary.
