New Delhi: Aiming to showcase India's rich culture and tradition, a cultural programme has been organised for the US President Barack Obama at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here tomorrow.
Obama, will be arriving here on January 25 on a three-day visit and will attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest on Monday.
The cultural programme has been put up by Seher, an NGO, which had also organised a similar programme during Obama's India visit in the year 2010.
"India is particularly known for its magnificent and legendary diversity of cultures and languages. This makes India virtually unique. It is this uniqueness that we wish to present for the visiting dignitaries on this historic visit to India," Sanjeev Bhargava, director, Seher, said in a statement today.
Beginning with an invocation from the Rig Veda, a text recognised as a world heritage work, the programme comprises short presentations in different styles with dancers coming together in a rhythmic finale.
The event showcases five forms of Indian classical dances -- Kathak, Manipuri, Oddissi, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali. The performance has been choreographed by Madhavi Mudgal.
