Raipur: A CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district today, police said.
The constable Hari Narayan Dwivedi (29) belonging to 168th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force in Bijapur ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at a paramilitary's camp, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Indira Kalyan Elesela said.
When his colleagues heard the gunshot they rushed inside the room and found Dwivedi lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead, the ASP said. The jawan was a native of Satna in Madhya Pradesh. The exact reason behind his extreme step was yet to be ascertained, he said.
A case has been registered in this connection and that further probe was on, he added.
Early this month, a CRPF constable had committed suicide at a camp of paramilitary in Dantewada.
