Pilibhit, UP, Feb 23: Several crores of rupees worth fruits and vegetables, including potato, onion, etc. went up in flames on Wednesday night in a devastating fire that gutted 40 shops built inside a 60-metre long tin shed at the Pilibhit Mandi Committee here.
Fire tenders reached the spot two and a half hours after the fire was first noticed, alleged traders.
By the time the fire tenders reached the spot, most of the goods had been turned to cinders.
The fire was brought under control after several hours of efforts.
