Delhi govt issues detailed guidelines for schools amid surge in Covid-19 cases | Check details

Delhi govt asks schools to conduct daily symptoms check, create quarantine rooms, thermal scan among other protocols in guidelines amid rising infections.

The city government on Friday issued new Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for schools in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the national capital. The AAP-government in Delhi asked schools to conduct daily symptoms check, create quarantine rooms within premises, use thermal scan and hand sanitsation, among other protocols.

The SOP outlines various precautionary measures to be adopted in schools to prevent spread of Covid-19 infection in addition to compliance of measures/guidelines issued by the city government from time to time.

Here are the detailed guidelines 
  1. Students and staff should not be allowed to enter school premises without thermal scanning
  2. Parents should be advised to not send their children to school if they test positive for the coronavirus
  3. Students should also be guided to avoid sharing of lunch, stationary items etc
  4. Head of school should ensure that all eligible students/staff/guests should wear face masks properly. 
  5. School should encourage vaccnination among the students and parents.  
  6. Schools should use all the entry/exit gates of the school building to avoid crowding at the time of entry and exit of students. 
  7. Staff should be deployed at all entry/exit gates to ensure that no symptomatic student/staff/guest enter the school campus. 
  8. At the time of taking morning attendance the teacher will daily ask the students about the Covid related symptoms in the students or in their family members. 
     
The school authorities have also been asked to maintain physical distancing at all times by ensuring that students do not assemble or gather near entry/exit gates while visiting the school and also posters on preventing measuers about Covid-19 need to be displayed at all prominent places in the school. The national capital has seen a spurt in COVID-19 cases in the past few days. On Thursday, Delhi logged 965 fresh Covid cases. It was 1,009 on Wednesday, 632 on Tuesday and 501 on Monday.
