New Delhi: The government held a meeting with more than 30 African mission heads here and assured them that India was committed to ensuring safety and security of all foreign nationals living in the country, including those from the African countries.
During the meeting, which is a part of regular interactions, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh strongly condemned instances of violence and racially motivated comments against African nationals in the country.
“He assured the African Heads of Missions that the government was committed to ensuring safety and security of all foreign nationals living in India, including those from the African countries,” MEA said in a release here today.
Noting that India has a long history of inclusive and cosmopolitan culture, the Minister, in the interaction yesterday, said based on India's constitutional and legislative provisions, the government follows the highest standards of inclusivity and democratic values and has zero tolerance for racism in any form.
There were more than 30 top envoys present at the interaction, sources said.
