The official said Pahalgam, a health resort which serves as a base camp during annual Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius, as compared to the previous night's minus 3.7 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest place in the Valley.
He said the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius, down from the last night's minus 0.4 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, also fell to settle at a low of minus 2.1 degrees Celsius as against the previous night's minus 1.9 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The night temperature in south Kashmir town of Kokernag registered a low of 0.6 degree Celsius, he said, adding the tourist place had recorded a low of 1.3 degrees Celsius the previous night.
Kupwara, in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius as against the previous night's minus 2.7 degrees Celsius, he said.
He said the night temperature in the nearby Kargil town settled at a low of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius as against the previous night's minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.
The MeT Department has said the weather will remain mainly dry across Kashmir division over the next 24 hours.
