Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has cracked down on the Shiv Sena threat to disrupt screenings of Shah Rukh Khan's film My Name Is Khan.
After cinema halls reportedly removed posters and hoardings of the film following an alleged Sena diktat, the CM's office issued a press release saying "Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disrupt screening of Shah Rukh Khan's film 'My Name Is Khan'. No one will be allowed to take the law into their hands".
Sena is angry after Shah Rukh backed the participation of Pakistani cricketers in the IPL.
Most cinema owners refused to come on camera but have clearly indicated that they are scared of violence by Sainiks. Some even expressed doubt over the release of My Name is Khan, scheduled for February 12. And cracking down on that Sena threat is the Maharashtra Chief Minister himself. In a press release, the CM's office says, "Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disrupt screening of Shah Rukh Khan's film My Name is Khan. No one will be allowed to take the law into their hands."
