Chandigarh: 65-year-old woman dies of swine flu in Yamunanagar

A 65-year-old woman from the Subash Nagar locality in New Delhi died of swine flu, a senior health official said on Tuesday.

A 65-year-old woman from the Subash Nagar locality in Chandigarh died of swine flu, a senior health official said on Tuesday. Yamunanagar Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Vijay Dahiya said she was tested positive for swine flu on March 9 at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

However, her family preferred to admit her to a Mohali hospital in Punjab, where she died on Monday, he said.

District Surveillance Officer Dr Vagish Guten said that a health team is in constant touch with family members of the woman.    

Her family members have been asked to be vigilant, he said, adding that their samples have also been sent for investigation.    

The woman was cremated here on Tuesday.
