Chennai: With no concrete clue about the location of the missing Dornier aircraft with three crew members, the Indian Coast Guard is now relying on Reliance Industries Ltd.'s vessel to locate the plane.
The Reliance Industries vessel with remotely operated equipment will reach the search spot on Friday morning and join the search operations, while Sagarnidhi belonging to the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) would leave, Coast Guard Inspector General for eastern region S.P. Sharma told reporters here.
The aircraft with three crew members -- all in their 30s -- went missing on June 8 while returning to base after a regular surveillance sortie.Since June 9, the Coast Guard and the Indian Navy started search operations for the missing plane, but has achieved no results.
Coast Guard officials met reporters after family members of the missing crew started speaking to the media and posting messages on social networking sites like Twitter.
One of the family members had urged officials to seek foreign technological assistance to locate the missing plane and the crew members.
