Nearly 20 months after he got a clean chit from the CBI, dentist Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur will undergo a narco-analysis test in the sensational Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case with a special court in Ghazibad on Tuesday granting permission to the agency for it.
A new team of the agency probing the murder case of 14-year-old Aarushi, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her Noida residence less than two years ago, had requested for a narco-analysis of parents of the victim -- Rajesh and Nupur on December 21.
Special Judicial Magistrate Preeti Singh granted the permission but asked the CBI to seek medical clearance for Dr Rajesh Talwar, an asthma patient, before the test.
The Magistrate directed the Directorate of Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Gandhinagar, Gujarat to carry out the test as per the legal provisions.
Rajesh was arrested on May 23, 2008 by the Noida Police in connection with the murder of Aarushi, a class IX student of DPS Noida and her domestic help Hemraj. The case was transferred to the CBI in July.
Then CBI joint director Arun Kumar had said there was no evidence against the Talwar couple and that a narco-test on them was not needed. Thereafter, Rajesh was released.
But the reconstituted CBI probe team, headed by joint director Javed Ahmed and special director S C Sinha, is of the view that a narco-test on the Talwar couple may give some insight into the case. PTI
